Vehicle with Army number plates with Werakumara’s posters nabbed
On Friday early morning a cab van with two men had been stopped on suspicion by police petrol in
Kebithigollewa. On checking the police had been able to seize over 4000 posters with the preferential number of former deputy minister Weerakumara Dissanayake of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance.
When the cab vehicle was searched and the driver and the assistant questioned it had revealed that the number plates had been displayed were some bogus number plates that had been used to run army vehicles.
The two persons who were caught have been found to be residents of Anuradhapura,Purawasamkulam area. It is learnt that the vehicles with army number plates are rarely searched by the police and this van had been deployed by the suspects to fool the police on duty. In this regard the officers of the Kebithigollewa police are conducting investigations.
