School coach driver nabbed drinking while driving, sentenced to 03 months

The traffic police attached to the Negombo police station had been smart in arresting a

school coach van driver who had been consuming liquor with ‘bites’ while driving a van carrying small children.

The accused had been produced to the Negombo Magistrate courts. The additional magistrate of the Negombo magistrates courts Thilakaratne Bandara despite pleading guilty for the offence considering the gravity of the offence had sentenced the driver to three months imprisonment.

In addition the driver of the van carrying small children for the rseriousness of the offence had also been fined rupees seven thousand five hundred (Rs 7,500/-) and ordered his licence to suspended for a period of one year.

The driver of the vehicle is by name Liyanawaduge Tharanga Pushpakumara, a 34 year old  resident of No 656A.Pitiyamulla road , Kondamulla Katana.
