UPFA Policy Statement to be released today sans Maithripala
The United Peoples Freedom Alliance policy
statement pertaining to the forthcoming general election is to be released today, the 28th instant in Colombo, without the participation of the president of the alliance, President Maithripala Sirisena.
Today at 9.30 in the morning near to the Independence arcade the policy statement is to be presented to a group of youth while a mass rally is to be held subsequently at 10.30 a.m at the Henry Pedris grounds.This rally is organised by the United Peoples Freedom Alliance.
The related office bearers of the UPFA has invited the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the present President Maithripala Sirisena for this rally.It has been made known that only the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa would be participating. This information has been received from the internal sources of the UPFA.
In this policy statement it has included the developmental activities for the next five years and also had emphasised on the social economic policies that would be followed by a future UPFA government.
Meanwhile the President’s media unit has revealed that the President Maithripala Sirisena is to attend a meeting at Weli Oya and would also attend a function in Kilinochchi.
