Grant leave on 17th to private employees - EC

Deshapriya has made a plea to all private sector employers to grant leave irrespective of the fact they whether they have exceeded their entitlement of leave.

This is clearly indicated in the 1981 Act No 1 section 122 the elections commissioner has provisions to request for this requirement.

If the polling booth is less than 40 kilometres from one’s residence half a days leave has to be granted and if the booth is 40 to 100 kilometres away one days leave,if  the booth is between 100 to 150 kilometres away one and a half days leave and if it is over 150 kilometres two days leave has to be granted in respect of every employee. For some areas  three days leave has to be given by each employer.
