A person allegedly assaulting a schoolboy who is supposed to have
drawn a moustache on a poster carrying a photo of a former MP, P. Harrison contesting for Anuradhapura District for forthcoming General Elections has been taken into custody.
The suspect had posted an election poster on a tree close to a school in front of his house depicting the candidate's photo when the student had drawn a moustache on the election candidate's face when on his way home from school last 16th. A person who had seen this act had notified the assailant about the student who was responsible for it. The victim was one Sandun Nimesh, a student of grade 7 of Rajanganaya Yaya 10 College. After this student who was assaulted had informed his parents, the Rajanganaya Police had been notified about it and the student had been hospitalised.
The suspect was expected to be forwarded before Thambuttegama Magistrate Court yesterday (19). The former MP Mr. P. Harrison had said that he would not make any influence in this connection.
