Kettarama incident causes injuries to 10 and damages 12 vehicles
During the third One Day International between the touring Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket teams
encounter played as a day night match at the R Premadasa International cricket stadium there had been a clash between two factions in the audience which had resulted in causing minor injuries to 10 cricket fans and also 12 parked vehicles had been damaged when the vehicles were struck with a barrage of stones unleashed by the factions who clashed.
The clash had begun between two factions of spectators in the D block of the pavilion when Sri Lanka was on the verge of losing. At the same moment a stone had been pelted on to the ground when a Pakistani fielder had been struck by it and as a result play was halted.
The army anti terrorist unit was summoned to bring everything back to normal. All spectators in the block were evacuated and the game had started on the instructions of the match referee Javagal Srinath.
This incident was definitely a black mark for our cricket and country. Former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya had sent a twitter message saying that this incident was due to just two drunkard spectators and was nothing against the touring Pakistani team.
