Renowned artist and cartoonist Daya Rajapaksa no more

The renowned cartoonist and artist Daya Rajapaksa has passed away yesterday
while been treated at the national hospital yesterday the 26th instant.

At the time of his demise he was 78 years old. Daya Rajapaksa was employed at the Wijeya Newspapers ltd although he became popular while serving as a professional cartoonist and artist when he initially served in the same field at the Lake House.

He had made a number of picture stories over the years which were very popular and some of them were later utilized for as Tele drama and film scripts. He started his popular career in this field when he commenced his picture story to the Silumina newspaper in the “Vanarayo” picture story series.

The Daya Rajapaksa  picture stories were later converted to make film scripts like “Sakvithi Suwaya”, “Hulawali” and “Thawalama” .The Tele dramas “Dulari”,Hathe Wasama”,”Boralu Para”,and “Anupama” were cretaed with his picture stories.
