I was to give 12 lakhs new jobs to the youth, but “Yahapalanaya” prevented it - MR

Addressing a election propaganda meeting in Matara, Kotuwegoda, Izzadeen town former President Mahinda

Rajapaksa vouched to resolve the unemployment problem of the youth.

While speaking in this meeting former President had said that once under a United Peoples Freedom Alliance government all students who do not enter Universities for higher studies would be given a grant of Rs 5000/- per month to pursue courses in vocational and technical training.

He also had added that during his government a plan was drawn to give 12 lakhs of employment to the school leavers but during the 100 days programme of this government they had totally neglected the plan.But unfortunately the good governance government had not taken it forwards.
