To abolish the FCID Elle Gunawansa Thera and Professor Carlo Fonseka files petition:

To abolish the police financial crimes division and the gazette that was issued to establish this unit a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by Ven.Elle

Gunawansa thera and Professor Carlo Fonseka. The petitioners have brought to light that the establishment of the police financial crimes investigations unit is not in accordance with the  present police ordinance act.What they have pointed out is that when there is for investigation of crimes and other connected to them could be handled by the police act number 64,the Prime Minister had by forming a cabinet sum committee in parliament has made provisions to establish this police financial crimes investigation unit.

Hence the findings of the police financial crimes investigations unit against bribery and corruptions are all illegal. These facts have been included in the petition submitted to Supreme Court.
