Malsha explains about photos in Facebook ....

of being drunk in clubs

What was exposed all over the internet across the Facebook in the recent past was how Western PC
member Malsha Kumaratunga the daughter of Jeevan Kumaratunga was drunk after having gone to clubs.

Malsha has now come forward to explain matters regarding these photographs. These are the answers received to those questions:

* To which school did you go?
  Wicherely International.

* Is it true that you like to wear shorts?
Aney ... do I have a beautiful body to wear shorts? If I have a nice body I would always wear short     clothing.

* Is it true that you frequent night clubs?
No need to say 'no' for lies. I went in my young days of course. But because I have too much work now   I don't have time for it.

* So then you must be drinking a little bit of arrack and smoking a cigarette isn't it?
I of course have a little bit of wine .... but I don't drink and fall down.

* But then there are photos these days in the Facebook hugging boys with arrack and cigarettes in the       hand .... what do you say about that?
When slinging mud at a woman ... she'd be called a 'baduwa'. Or else a prostitute. It's said that she's   smoking cigarettes or drinking arrack. Those are the things that could be said to demean a woman no. Even I haven't seen those photos. All those began to surface when I started letting out my political     ideas. This is a'mud' aimed at me because I didn't get on stages to bring forward leaders once again     and didn't go round temples.

* Actually .... what sort of a character is Malsha?
I have never portrayed a character that doesn't exist. I have never displayed a character in front of     the people such as the role of 'patthini amma' wearing white. It's true that I have not been brought up   in suffering. But I can really understand when somebody relates his or her worry and sadness. I have   never told that I am living a life like you'll by showing for lies that I had suffered. If we get down from   AC vehicles and go to say those things not only will that be a colossal lie but it'll be a fantastic joke as   well. I am a person who speaks straight and tell what is wrong is wrong.

* Do you think that young girls in our country are stuck because of the culture of our country?
It's like this .... the males in our country can do anything. Whatever is done ... the males become the 'porawal. But if a female does that ... mud is slung at her all round. This low-grade thing must be swept   away from this country. We must strive to develop a society which treats man and woman alike. That       mud which is inside mens' heads should be cleaned. I am against the social system which always struggles   to imprison the woman.
