Jayalalitha’s return has made the India Sri Lanka ferry service on hold
It is reported that the proposed ferry service between India and Sri Lanka has been kept on hold
after the reinstatement of the position of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalilitha Jayaram.
During the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Mody to Sri Lanka it was discussed that the ship service between the two countries to be made available with the intervention of the authorities of the shipping corporation. Although arrangements had been made by the shipping corporation to commence this service, after the reinstatement of Jayalilitha Jayaram as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the efforts have come to a standstill. This had been revealed by the chairman of the shipping corporation Shashi Danatunga yesterday the 10th instant.
This had been disclosed by the Chairman when a press briefing was held inside a Liberian ship anchored in the harbour chaired by the Minister of port services Arjuna Ranatunga to celebrate 30 years of existence of the shipping corporation.
