Government promises to pay the Golden Key depositors
The deputy Solicitor General Viraj Dayaratna had stated in the Supreme Courts today that 41%
of the funds deposited by the Golden Key depositors would be paid to them by the government.
Accordingly those depositors who have deposits to the value of below rupees two million would be paid within one month and those depositors who have deposited between rupees two million and rupees ten million would be paid the said amount within two months. Those depositors over rupees ten million would be paid within one year from date.
This promise had been made when the case of the Golden Key depositors was called for hearing at the Supreme Court in front of a bench comprising of supreme court judges.
The Deputy Solicitor general has been informed to furnish the Cabinet paper on the dates the promised sum would be paid in this regard to Supreme Court on the 25th of this month.
