Eye infection spreads: over 100 admitted daily to Eye hospital
The infectious eye decease ‘viral conjunctivitis’ it is learnt is fast spreading at various parts of the island. The authorities of the Colombo Eye hospital have
cautioned the general public to be careful of this decease and take all precautionary measures.
The doctors have said that this eye decease is caused though a virus and bacteria and those who have acquired would have to take three to four days to recover and come back to normal. The symptoms of this eye decease are tearing, accumulation of mucous, headaches and eyes turning red.
It is reported that around 100 patients are admitted to the Colombo eye hospital for treatment.
As a protective measure the public are cautioned when travelling in common public transport services like trains, buses and when happened to be in public places. Those who have been contaminated with the decease are cautioned to be careful by washing their hands and eyes and properly and not allowing the germs to be carried to others.
