Another earthquake of a very powerful
nature with a magnitude of 7.4 and with a depth of 15 kilometres took place today around 12.35 in the afternoon in the village of Kodari close to Everest Mountain in Nepal.

This has even affected Katmandu in Nepal, Bihar,Assam, Odessa of the North Indian Border and West Bengal. NDTV reports that the shock of the earthquake was felt in New Delhi too. It was also reported that an aftershock of a magnitude of Richter Units 6.3 was recorded in the adjoining area of Roomcharp once again, just exactly half an hour after the previous one. Subsequently, 6 other aftershocks were reported from adjoining areas at a magnitude of less than 6.3 units. Overseas reports mention that Nepalese people of Katmandu had run here and there with fear not knowing what to do and that some of them had even hid under tables and chairs.
In the meantime, instances of several buildings collapsing and cases of landslides had been reported because of this earthquake. The condition of damage because of the earthquake exposed tothe world because the communication system of Nepal has been obstructed and because observation and relief teams are still in the process of approaching locations subjected to damage. An Indian Army helicopter which came to Namche Bazaar area situated close to Mount Everest has said that villagers there are in a safe condition.
Another 5 Indian Army helicopters have started rescue operations. It was confirmed by 2.30 in the afternoon that only 4 people had lost their lives in Chavutara region in Nepal because of this quake while those who were wounded have been estimated as 12. However this figure could escalate on a huge scale.
What Minister of Housing said was that because of the tragedy several buildings have been flattened to the ground. Authorities have taken a decision to temporarily close Katmandu Airport.
