Diyawadana Nilame Dela questioned at Police FCIU for 04 hours

The Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa Nilanga Dela Bandara has been questioned for 04 hours by the

Officials of the Police Financial crimes investigation unit for alleged misappropriation of millions of valuable articles and money belonging to the Dalada Maligawa trustees. This has been consequent to a complaint lodged with the Police financial crimes investigations unit by a former employee of the Dalada Maligawa

The Diyawadana Nilame had been questioned by the Officials of the police financial crimes investigation unit after he was summoned to the office of the PFCIU on the 12th instant. Accordingly the Diyawadana Nilame had gone to the financial crimes investigation unit along with his lawyers at 9 am yesterday.

He had been questioned for 04 hours from 9am to 1 pm. It is learnt that he had been questioned over the sale of very valuable properties belonging to the trustees of Dalada Maligawa. These properties have been valued at millions and millions of rupees which belong to Dalada Maligawa.

It has also been reported that the Diyawadana Nilame had been questioned over loss of huge sums of money, the sole property of the trustees of the Maligawa.

The funds thus misappropriated are learnt had been spent on the presidential election campaign of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
