A Bollywood actress who had become disappointed after seeing the mass cemetery of thousands of people who
died after the earthquake in Nepal which took place recently has abandoned her mundane life and turned a nun.
The 38 year old Barka Madan entered the cinema after having represented the final round of the Indian Beauty Contest in 1994. Among the films she starred in were Kiladian and Kiladi in which she starred with Akshe Kumar and the popular drama series in India, the play known as Gar Ek Sapna.
On an occasion when she attended shooting of a film in Tibet in the year 2012 she had met the Dalai Lama and from there onwards she had been motivated towards Buddhism and it is learned that she had thought of changing her life.
She had arrived at the final decision of priestly life a few days ago when she visited the town of Katmandu to see the tragedy that befell Nepal. She had said that on seeing that mass tomb she had received a shock about the impermanence of life and that she would dedicate the rest of her life to Buddhism. Barka Madan who entered ascetic life will hitherto be known as Bhikku Jelton Samsen.
