The media freedom given has been made a mockery by web sites having extremist intentions

In the speech made by the president Maithripala

Sirisena over the electronic media last night after completing 100 days he commented on the media freedom.

During his speech he elaborated on the ‘mockery’ made by certain media web sites by expressing hoax information leading to provoking the different ethnic groups by interpreting in a manner not conducive to the harmony of the nation.

These have been instigated by the opposition parties to obtain political mileage.They have quoted as the forces have been removed and lands in Sampur and Jaffna have been donated to LTTE Tamil supporters. This  wrong information had caused severe embarrassment to the government ranks .The people are misled by this false information.

The president had made a plea to this extremist persons to refrain from conveying hoax information via various media and web sites.
