Reason why Mahinda ruled ....
by combining blood relations
- Dayan reveals
The biggest allegation aimed at ex-President
Mahinda Rajapaksa was connecting those of his family and carrying on a rule with a Company of brothers. Criticisms were published that it contributed to his defeat.
Mahinda had to carry out his State administration by attaching relatives because there were some reasons which made him lonely, revealed Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, former Permanent Representative of Geneva when delivering a speech yesterday. He points out that in order to fill or prevent opportunities of international and internal conspiracies against the ex-President the latter had resorted to effecting this change. This is what he says:
"How did the hero fall? It is a part of the circle of a normal hero. After carrying out a heroic act and getting a self-confidence of strength, one gets a pride which goes beyond limits. It could be possible to make heroes collapse because of the limitless consciousness as a result of having given leadership to the war and the pride that occurs from that mechanism.
When the former President took over the Party and the country, he was solitary to a certain extent. One part of the State mechanism was those of the United National Party. Another part of the Party was on the side of the old leadership. In such an instance there happens to be a big problem about security .... because by that time an ex-President was killed. Another President had got her eye blind. In such an instance what inevitably has to be done is to operate within the framework of a circle of safety comprising blood relations of the family who are no strangers and had come to be known for a long period of time. When a cold war erupts, it is not easy to change that structure. When a defeat is taking place within an international circle, it was easy to carry out several acts of conspiracy internally.
He brought out this at the event yesterday where the book Mahaveerawanshaya written by Dr. Rajah Dharmapala was launched.
