Provincial Council Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra recently publicly

announced that she has a lover, across a Facebook page  and later deleted it from the Facebook and once again made another public announcement that she did  so for fun.

On an inquiry made in this connection by a weekend newspaper Hirunika had made a further clarification. She had said that because of this incident a rumour had circulated that she and Ranjan Ramanayaka are to wed each other. This is how she spoke about it:

  For that .... it is my best friend that should hold  himself responsible. He got friendly with a girl. I said, 'if you have guts ... put it in the Facebook'. 'Okay ... I'll put .... you also put then' he told. I just told like that ... and didn't think so much about it. I also put it and quickly deleted it. For that moment, the website had taken photos of it. It was mentioned that I was to marry Ranjan Ramanayaka. If my thaththi was living, he would be 59 now. Ranjan is 9 years younger than my father. I have a photo of Ranjan carrying me in his arms when I was really small.
