As a result of a road accident that took place

around 7 this morning in Batticaloa, an 8 year old schoolboy died most unfortunately.

This accident occured in Kirathkulam area along the Batticaloa - Kalmunai main road when the child had tried to cross the road in great haste without thinking twice. This student who had been walking on the left side of the road had abruptly tried to cross the road in a mighty hurry when he had got knocked down by a motor cyclist who happened to pass by culminating in the boy losing his life on the spot. The motor cyclist had said that since the boy crossed the road at once he has had not been possible to do anything.

This accident was noted on a CCTV camera in a nearby house too.

The dead body of the schoolboy is kept at the hospital and Kaththankudiya Police are conducting further inquiries. The CCTV video with the report of the accident, from BELOW
