From 06th Police to execute stringent carriageway rules
It has been decided that Police would implement and execute the
road carriageway rule to precision and would be very harsh on drivers of buses and lorries who do not heed and pay strict attention to the laws enacted. The drivers of buses and lorries have been requested to travel on the right carriage and are prohibited and barred totally to travel on middle and left carriages. These are stringent laws that would be implemented fully by the traffic police from the 06th instant. All other vehicles should travel on these carriages prohibited for buses and lorries.

This is a new concept and is to be an experimental one just temporarily until new legislations are made to be implemented. The other rule is that no driver could haphazardly jump lanes as they wish, which would be considered a grave traffic offence.
Through this experimental endeavour the aim is to ease traffic congestion on roads. The roads that would be mainly focussed in this experimental exercise would be as follows:
From Moratuwa to Galle Face, from Kollupitiya to Bambalapitiya, Duplication road,Borella round about to Sri Jayewardenapura Polduwa,Peliyagoda to Kiribathgoda along Kandy road, Peliyagoda to Wattala along the Negombo road.
