Basil taken into custody!!

Basil Rajapaksa, former Minister of Economic Development has been taken into custody this evening

at about 5 evening by Police Financial Crimes Division.

According to the statement given by him, this arrest has been carried out on information confirmed to the effect that he is responsible for a fraud, it is reported. The former Minister was called to the Finance Crimes Division for questioning over irregularities allegedly conducted at the Divineguma Department and he had been interrogated for a period of about 6 hours from 11.00 a.m. to approximately 5.00 p.m. after which he has been arrested in this manner.

He is also expected to be produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Courts.
