Very soon a plain hopper would be Rs 10/-A milk tea Rs 25/- and an ordinary tea Rs 10/-

The officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority
would be visiting all restaurants and eating houses scattered island wide in the next two weeks to make them aware of the new rates to be charged from all customers for plain hoppers, milk tea and normal tea.

They have already made the cost calculations taking into consideration the cost of raw materials, overhead service expenses and have derived at the most appropriate charges to be made for plain hoppers, milk tea , and ordinary tea to be charged as Rs 10/-,Rs 25/-and Rs 10/- respectively. This was added by the Director General of the Consumer Affairs Authority.

He had also added that to date about 800 restaurant owners have already consented for these price changes, hence what the authority now needs to have an awareness program for the rest of the restaurant owners to notify about the new charges.
