Transfers of Senior Police Officers made without the knowledge of the IGP

It has been revealed that senior police officers and Officers in charge of police stations have

been transferred without the knowledge of the Inspector general of Police.

These transferred have been made by the Police Department at the police headquarters with the coordination of the Ministry of Internal affairs. A spokesman of the police headquarters had said that the transfers have been made not at once but gradually.

The main reason for affecting these transfers is to offer redress to all those who were subjected to harassment during the tenure of the previous government. On the 8th of last month 23 senior police officers were transferred and the majority of these transfers have been made without the knowledge of the Inspector General of Police.
