Festival Advance of government servants to be increased from Rs 5000/- to Rs 10000/- for the forthcoming Sinhala-Tamil New Year

The Minister in charge of Buddha Sasana, Public administration, local government and provincial

councils Karu Jayasuriya,had approved a  the sum of Rupees ten thousand to all government employees instead of the rupees five thousand granted as festival advance hitherto. This increase is to be affected from the Sinhala and Tamil New Year due in April.The treasury has been informed of the increase of the festival advance. The recovery is to be made by instalments of rupees one thousand per month. This increase has been made in relation to the increase in the prices of textiles and other goods.

The convenor of the trade unions for the semi government and private sector Saman Ratnapriya is requesting this payment to be increased  and to be paid to the employees in the semi government and the private sector too.
