Arm of student stuck between two buses .....
separates from body!
Because of the competition of going behind money which is a notorious factor dominant in buses, the damage caused to human
beings for no reason never seems to end. An unfortunate incident of a schoolboy whose arm was gripped between two buses was detached from the body and had fallen on the ground as a result of a bus going on a 'race' was reported from yesterday at Belummahara, Gampaha. This incident had occured at Belummahara junction bus-stop along Gampaha -- Kaduwela bus-route.
This student who had wanted to get off from the bus at Belummahara Junction bus-stop and had only stepped out from the footboard when there had been a bus unanticipatedly stationed on the left-hand side and this bus in question had flown with rapid pace leaving hardly any gap which resulted in the schoolboy's arm getting jamming in between the two buses and his arm had been subjected to severe damage. In fact, as a consequence of this mishap the boy's arm had got twisted and the part from above the elbow had severed and fallen there dripping with blood.
This incident had taken place yesterday 26th around 11 a.m. The victim in this instance is a 15 year old student following studies at Henegama Maha Vidyalaya in his 10th Year named Oshada Madhushanka Pinnaduwa residing in Walauwaththa, Miriswaththa, Gampaha. It was said that on the day of the mishap, since it happened to be a holiday, this accident had happened when he had gone with some of his friends to visit an ailing teacher and was returning. After being admitted to Gampaha General Hospital together with the detached arm he was transferred to Colombo National Hospital. It was also reported that the arm was not in a position to be replanted.
It was understood that the boy had been in a bus carrying route number 202 plying from Kirindiwela to Gampaha and the bus concerned had tried to 'race' with another bus in competition. After this incident the driver and the conductor in question have vanished.
Further investigations are being conducted by the police in this connection.
