Johnson takes top honours at ICC Awards --2014

ICC Award Winners ....Nothing for Sri Lanka! Year's Player -- Michelle Johnson!

No Sri Lankan player was able to claim an award in Sri Lanka according to the 2014 ICC Cricket Award Winners list which was announced last Friday. When naming the World Test team, the name of Angelo Matthews was mentioned as the Captain while the names of Kumar Sangakkara and Rangana Herath had been included in that team. The only player named from Sri Lanka for the one-day team was Ajantha Mendis.

The player who won the Best Player of the Year this time was Australian fast bowling exponent Michelle Johnson. It was a special feature that he won the same award in the year 2009 too. Sangakkara was named the Best Player of the Year in 2012. Though both Sangakkara and Matthews were nominated for that award this time, the award was bestowed on Johnson.
