Cultural Minister's new shoe-style -- Updates

Just like the shoe aimed at George Bush .... T.B's broken pair of shoes is very valuable

Cultural Minister T.B.Ekanayaka who went to sign Agreements recently on the occasion when the Chinese President arrived here, wearing a pair of shoes of which the soles had given way thus became the focus of attention of humour among many elements.



Though the media and the public were prepared to dismiss the occurence having considered all this as a small mistake, the Minister has responded by bringing out new ideas and opinions that this was not an embarassment to Sri Lanka but nevertheless brought fame and even gave it an opportunity to draw foreign funds -- thus giving fresh life to this episode.

The Minister who says that he had worn the old pair of shoes lying in the house had found that the soles of the shoes had come out when getting down from the vehicle, close to the Presidential Secretariat explained that he still kept on wearing the damaged shoes bravely to represent the culture of Sri Lanka because it was his village 'attitude of living' by keeping his feet together on this earth and so signed the Agreement, he further added.

Two days later he had stated that this pair of shoes which caught the attention in an international manner now has a queue of buyers online to buy by paying millions. Whatever it is, he had not revealed these buyers who are ready to pay a good sum for Sri Lanka's discredit.

The Minister had even taken interest in appointing committes of how to sell this pair of shoes and to decide on a programme to give aid in cash.

For this committee he has appointed Professor Mudiyanse Dissanayaka, Cultural Director Vijith Kanugala and tele-creator Sudath Rohana for this purpose.

Committee member Mr. Sudath Rohana, expressing his ideas to Derana Channel yesterday said this damaged pair of shoes fetching such a value is indeed incredible. Also that the pair of shoes aimed at George Bush of America too fetched a big sum of money and though this was not a similar incident such as that, there is a similar value and the vision is very important in this context.
