Mahela quit Test Cricket because of daughter .... had come with her to see final match

Mahela Jayawardena who performed a great service to Sri Lanka Cricket finally said goodbye to his Test career of 17 years. Mahela who took leave of 20-20 matches too will be playing till the World Cup only in One Day games.

He scored 54 runs in his final innings today while it was also his 50th half century. To watch Mahela's final innings his daughter cute little Sansa Aarya too had been present at the stadium. It was his wife Cristina who escorted daughter Sansa who was just eight and half months old.

When Mahela announced his farewell from Test Cricket unexpectedly, most fans could not grasp the reason for having taken a decision like that. But the necessity to give more dedication to his family after the daughter was born had influenced the decision. This fact was exposed from a response given by Mahela's mother to a weekend newspaper. The response is as follows:

 That also he had told his father on the sly. He's a bit afraid to talk things like that to me. Cristina had first met Mahela at a party. Cristina is a friend of the girl with whom Avishka is carrying on. It was that way that they had come to know each other. Cristina's mother is of Danish nationality. At the start my son had thought that I would be a stumbling block in this connection. But what I believe is that he had got the best wife in this world .... because she's so good .... and she has a very understanding attitude. During the period when the baby was born, there was not even a servant to attend to the work.  Even we were not told about the work. She has such good qualities. Even son is very devoted to his family. I think that the main reason for my son to keep away from matches is the child. He likes to spend his time with Cristina.
