UNP provincial council member of Beruwala, Mr. Gamini Alwis (47) died at Moragolla Junction yesterday when a CTB bus knocked against a scooter in which he was travelling while his 17 year old son was admitted to Nagoda Hospital with serious injuries.


This accident took place when the son of the PC member had gone to collect some documents from the dealer from whom he had bought the referred to scooter day-before-yesterday when he had turned his scooter towards the shop of the said dealer when a CTB bus which came from behind had knocked on his vehicle.

Later investigations revealed that the driver of the CTB bus had driven it with a temporary license while the 17 year old son of the deceased parliamentarian has had no motor bicycle licence himself.
