Colombo lady abducted in white van .... taken to jungle in Hatton and tied up
Last night yesterday a lady residing in Baseline Road, Dematagoda was abducted from a white van and the jewellery in her possession was robbed. She had then been taken to a lonely place in Hatton after which she was tied up. Later she had with great difficulty removed the ropes and after going to a nearby home and informed of the incident, the police were notified.
The victim is Fatima Nilufa Hussain, a 40 year old mother of 3 children.
What she had told the police was a certain clique of men had come to her home around 4 in the evening and had abducted her after tying her eyes and had then put her into a van by force and taken her to a distant location. Towards night she had been taken to a lonely spot and tied her to a tree in the dark and fled.
She also mentioned that at about 3 in the morning she had removed the ropes and after coming to a house in Wilfred area in Hatton had informed of what happened and they had informed the Emergency unit 119 of the police. She also stated that she had never come to Hatton area before and that she knows anything of the people who kidnapped her. She had sustained some minor injuries in the process after the incident and was admitted to Dickoya Hospital. Hatton police who are conducting investigations in this respect say that the evidence given by the complainant from time to time are of a contrary nature to some extent and as such there is suspicion about the incident.
police also say that they had requested the husband of the lady to come to Hatton police and future investigations would be conducted according to his statement.
