8 year old girl dies in car accident in Gingathhena

8 year old girl dies

Early this morning at about 2.50 a vehicle had fallen into a precipice close to Kelani Ganga in Yatiberiya area in Ginigathhna and an 8 year old girl inside the vehicle lost her life. A group of persons of the same family escorting a bridegroom to register a marriage in Bogawanthalawa have been the victims of this tragedy.

It was reported that a small vehicle of the Micro Panda type which was travelling from Wattala to Bogawanthalawa had toppled about 100 metres towards Kelani Ganga in Yatiberiya area in Ginigathhena along the main Hatton - Colombo Road.

An 8 year old girl who was travelling in the vehicle died on the spot while all six occupants of the vehicle who sustained injuries were admitted to Theligama provincial hospital hospital in Kitulgala. Ginigathhena police say that the vehicle had met with this accident around 2.50 early this morning and it could have happened because the driver had fallen asleep.

those who faced the accident were residents from Telengapana area in Wattala.

The deceased in this case is a schoolgirl of 8 years named Sasandara Suthiya.
