Female student who went for tuition ....intoxicated ... and in hospital
It is reported from Hakmana area about an incident where a female student who had come to a tuition class had been admitted to hospital in an intoxicated sate.
Villagers who observed the student walking on the road recently staggering, intoxicated had after inquiring her situation found that she was not in a position to answer them properly and they had then informed the police about her.
When the police arrived she was in a stammering state and a small bottle containing intoxicant and a quid were found.
She was taken to Gangodagama Hospital and detained there until she came to normal and later on police interrogation what she had told was that she had gone to a kiosk close by after the tuition class and had brought a vegetable rotti to eat and after eating it her mouth had begun to start and since the water in the water-bottle she had brought was over, she had requested an employee there for some water.
In this instance she says she had been given an intoxicant. She further said that since she felt her mouth starting so much she had drunk it non-stop, almost in one gulp and that later she felt an intoxicated state. When questioned how a quid happened to get into her bag, she said that that the employee had brought that and given her.
As she was in discomfort after consuming intoxicant she was then transferred to Matara Hospital for further treatment. Her parents too had been called by the police in order to conduct a special investigation and there is suspicion whether what she told was te truth or not. A special inquiry is expected to be conducted in order to find out as to who has given her the intoxicant.
