After the vote taken recently, together with the new members in parliament who were chosen, the first meeting of the Western Provincial Council began at 10.30 in the morning today (Apr 22) at the Battaramulla Provincial Council office. On that occasion
a number of members of parliament whose names were frequently mentioned in the media in the recent past had adorned themselves in new dresses. Hirunika who had worn a pair of big spectacles came in the company of Samanmali Sakalasuriya. Malsha, Susara Marikkar together with popular characters appeared with smiling faces. Royce Fernando of Negombo who was jailed because of a hold up too attended this session.
Activities that took place was the appointment as Chairman and some other activities.
Mr. Sunil Wijeyratna of the UNFA was appointed for the post of Chairman on a majority.
