University student's dead body found in Elpitiya -- UPDATES -- 2

 


Lover caught when police dog jumped on body 
Because she said that she can't stop new affair .... I stabbed her

Suspect of second year student of University of Aesthetic Studies, Colombo, Dimasha Gayanaki Thirimana's (22) murder, a soldier of 4th Gemunu Regiment in the Sri Lankan Army named Tharindu Indrajith Atukorala (26) confessed to Elpitiya police day-before-yesterday (24) thus: "Dimasha who came to Elpitiya .... I fell down on my knees and begged of her to stop that affair. But she said that she was not going to stop that affair. Then because of the temper I developed, I stabbed Dimasha ..! 

The student was stabbed to death by the suspect Army soldier the day-before-yesterday early morning inside a building behind the bus halt in Elpitiya. His confession in detail is as follows: "From the time Dimasha was schoolgoing I associated her and from the day she entered the university I attended to all her expenses. I loved her with all my heart. I am at present on duty at the Tantirimale Army Camp recruited there for further training. I drew my salary for May and after coming to Colombo,handed over a sum of Rs. 21,000 to her. I spent the 20th and 21st at a lodging-house in Colombo with her. After that I went back to the camp.  

Later, though I gave a call to Dimasha on her mobile phone, there was no response. After that when I called a friend of Dimasha, I was told that she was in a boarding. Because of that I became suspicious. When I questioned Dimasha about it she admitted that she was having a relationship with another person. Therefore I argued with her over the mobile phone. Later i told her that I want the Rs. 21,000 she got from me. She then told me that she would be going to Colombo at 3.15 in the morning on 24th and would come by bus to Elpitiya and also promised to return the money. On 23rd I signed out from the Tantirimale Camp in the evening and after coming to Colombo bought a knife from a pavement shop in Pettah for Rs. 100 and came to Ambalangoda in the night. Then the time was about 1.oo in the morning. Later, as there were no buses to go to Elpitiya, I came to Elpitiya by foot from Ambalangoda. I reached Elpitiya early in the morning at 2.30 and had a beer from a nearby boutique and waited for Dimasha to come. Around 4.15 early that morning Dimasha came to Elpitiya. I said that I want to have a word with her and took her to a lonely building near the bus halt.

I touched her feet and worshipped her and told her to forget the past and that I can't live without her asking to love me once more as before. Later she said,"There your money .... you can't stop my affair .... after this don't come before me!" The pain and sorrow I felt at that time I couldn't bear  and at the same time an anger towards her.  

I then pulled out the knife in my pocket and after pressing heron to the wall .... stabbed her on the neck. When she ran inside the building shrieking I once again stabbed her twice on her chest. When she fell down after that stabbing, the blade of the knife had gone crooked. Again by straightening out the blade of the knife I stabbed her from behind thrice after she fell down. Subsequently I I felt sorry about her and embraced her dead body and started crying.

Afterwards I threw the blood-stained knife into Nakandala wewa. I then went home and after washing my blood-smeared shoes, I pt the blood-stained shirt and trouser into a bag and came to Elpitiya. After coming to the wewa near Nakandala .... I set fire to the blood-stained clothes and once again came to Elpitiya town.

By that time there was a crowd gathered where the murder took place. I came there and started watching as if nothing had happened. On this occasion the sniffer police dog which was sniffing around about this incident jumped twice on my body .... pulled at my trouser twice. Then the police took me into custody".
