Sympathetic story of Trinco schoolgirl

 


A pair of slippers to student ....
who had to string her pair of slippers round her neck!
A case of inhuman punishment by a lady teacher to a female student who came to school in a pair of slippers because the latter had no money to buy a pair of shoes was reported from Trincomalee.

the girl is a student of a school in Trincomalee area studying in grade 5 and on the day in question she had attended school clad in a pair of slippers. The teacher who saw this attire had gone into a fit of anger and had


strung the pair of slippers round the neck of the girl and asked her to do her studies in that manner.

It was reported that when the mother of the student brought her the meals in the interval, she had been surprised to see this sight and had complained to the police.

It was understood that this mother who had no husband had 3 other children and had been nourishing her children by doing a small business in Sumedhankarapura area in Serunuwara.

The police who were notified of this incident, on inquiry was told by the teacher that this punishment was meted out in order to safeguard principles of discipline. The teacher also happens to be a mother.

The picture shows how the Officer-in-Charge of Serunuwara police, Mr. M.B. Weeraratna took steps to bestow a pair of shoes to this student after the mother complained to Serunuwara police about this cruel treatment given to her daughter.
