Best female singer is Umariya ... not Nanda Malini

Lahiru Perera, a singer of the new generation joined in a newspaper interview yesterday and said that from among singers of present day in Sri Lanka, the singer at supreme level is Sanuka and from among female singers, it is Umariya. What he next said was that whatever wasdone in the past, when considering from the point of view of capability .... that Umariya can sing better than Nanda Malini and that Sanuka can sing much better than Amaradeva.


This singer Sanuka he is talking about he said is still not properly known to fans of Sri Lanka as the son of Sangeeth Wickramasingha.


Lahiru Perera has come into the limelight by singing fast songs such as 'Rambari' and 'Rathu Ratakaju' and he is a singer of the new generation who has become a millionaire because of income from ringing-tones.


*Who is the most supreme singer in Sri Lanka?
 I am not measuring Sri Lankan singers. Actually there's no point in measuring them. There are those who could be called as supreme in various aspects .... from the point of view of singing. At present .... the best singer is Sanuka Wickremasingha .... Sangeeth Wickramasingha's son. There's no singer in Sri Lanka who could even come near to match with his singing.


In future, there won't be in India either. I really think so when looking at the creations he now does at his level. Still you'll don't know him. In the future you will meet him. When you take his singing, it's at a very high level. When you take female singers, it's Umara, Umara Devashri Natasha Ratnayaka. they are the people who are right on top.

 No .... no .... what I say is from the level of singing. it's really Nanda Malini and Amaradeva .... and what they have done cannot be measured. What I say is that from the point of view of their singing ability. Sanukula, Umara .... Umara, even when you go to think about me .... the fact that I am staying here is a magic to them. When looking at it from the aspect of singing, Umariya can sing better than Nanda Malini. Not only Amaradeva, I really like Amarasiri Peiris. Sanuka can sing better than Kasun Kalhari of our generation.There's no two words about it.
