Losers and winners among artistes-relations at PC elections
Confirmation is now available of those who were defeated as well as those who were victorious at the South and West provincial council elections conducted day-before-yesterday (Mar 29).
It was only last evening that the public was aware of the defeat of Nadeesha - Anarkali. Subsequently, singer Madhu Madhava, tele-actor Sugath Appuhamy and tele-actor Jagath Beneragama all fell into the losers' list. Among victors in the field of Arts, film actor Roger Seneviratna, Udara Ratnayaka and Naleen Pradeep Uduwela hail from Colombo while Ravindra Yasas from Kalutara and film actress from Galle too were among the winners. From among media personnel, Marikkar and Susil Kindelpitiya who emerged from Sirasa won from Colombo and Sisira Dinal was victorious from Gampaha.
From the standpoint of relations, Tharaka Nanayakkaa, son of Hemakumara Nanayakkara and Sanjeewa Karunatillaka, son of Rupa Karunatillaka were at the defeating end.
While Hirunika Premachandra, daughter of he Late Bharatha Premachandra was able to come first from Colombo District, Sonal Welgama, son of Minister Welgama came first in the list by winning the elections in Kalutara District. Malsha Cumaratunga, daughter of Jeevan Cumaratunga won the elections by being placed fifth in the preferential votes list. Pasinda Yapa Abeywardena, son of Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena won first place from Matara District while Randima Gamage, son of Piyasena Gamage came 4th in the Preferential list and Isuru Dodangoda, son of the Late Amarasiri Dodangoda was placed ninth in the Preferential list in Galle. Kanchana Wijeysekera, son of former Minister Mahinda Wijeysekera won the elections being placed fifth in Matara while Kavinda Jayawardena, son of the Late Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena was victorious by coming second from Gampaha. Chathura Galappaththi, son of parliamentarian Justin Galappaththi was placed first in the preferential list from the UNP from Matara.
