Upeksha Swarnamali got involved in a love story sometime back. He is a businessman. She is going to marry him soon.  

Upeksha is hoping to appear as a candidate at the next election too. If she loses in that election, she has an idea of leaving politics.These details she exposed to a weekend newspaper. The dialogue is as follows:

*How are your political activities?  
 Carrying on well. I think ... than in the past year ... this year it'll be possible to see a progress in political activities. I have been able to serve the people in the area from the money I have got as a member of parliament as well as from resources of my own Foundation. I give prominence to women and children. I am also hoping to bring in an amendment to the Act related to domestic harassment and to strengthen the Act. In programmes that will be carried out by my Foundation, I'll be launching several programmes targeting the youth. I am working in that respect hand in hand with the Tharuna Seva Sabhava.

*Is it difficult to engage in political affairs and the Field of Arts, both? 
 No ... I don't feel any difficulty that way. There are so many among us who do politics while engaged in occupations such as Medicine, Law. It's in that manner that I engage in acting as well as politics. Somehow or other I find time to engage in both these occupations. Because of the Arts, I have got


the opportunity of getting close to the public; speak to them across that medium. That's a big opportunity I got in my life ... it's like a bonus. Because of that I get the cordiality of the audience, everyday. 

*Do you hope to engage in politics in the future ... continuously?
 I'll definitely be contesting for the next General Elections. It's only after that that I'll be deciding whether to remain right along in politics or not. In the future .... whether I'll remain in politics or not will be decided according to the manner in which my private life goes on.

*What do you think about the place or position you are now in?
 Actually ... I am now in a position which I never thought of being in today. I never dreamt that I'd have to experience this much when I am 29 years old. According to my fate ... I got the opportunity of becoming a member of parliament. I myself am surprised about the position I am in now.

*There's news that you are once again involved in a romance.
 Yes .... it's true.

*Who is he?
 He's a businessman. We came to know each other recently. He's a good person. So far we have had no problems over our relationship.    

*Don't you feel a bit of a fear of once again getting involved in a romance?
 Not a bit of a fear .... a big fear. It's said no, that a person who was burned from a firebrand is even scared of the light of a firefly. As such, when I started this affair, I felt a fear. Even today I have a sort of doubt. When we met each other and when he asked whether I can get close to his life .... I took quite a number of days to answer that. I inquired about him. I liked him because I found out that he was a good person.    

*Are you going to get married soon?   
 No .... a date for marriage has still not been decided.
