After another 6 months .... Mervyn will say goodbye to Kelaniya and .....
proceed to South, Raja Rata or Uva
Minister Mervyn Silva at a press discussion last weekend said that he would be leaving his seat in Kelaniya in another 6 months' time. He mentioned that he would be going to the South, Raja Rata or Uva Province. He revealed all this the the Mawbima newspaper. This is what he said:
"There is a little work more to be finished in the work I started in Kelaniya. I didn't
get the opportunity to carry on my part of duties during the 10 years and 8 months I was in Kelaniya. I was away from the position of Organiser of Kelaniya for 1 year and 12 days. I once again resumed my part of duties in Kelaniya in the month of January. In another 6 or 7 months I would be completing the part of work I undertook in Kelaniya which I am hoping to attend to.
For that purpose I am getting the co-operation of 4 m.ps of the Kelaniya Provincial Council, a group of m.ps inclusive of the Peliyagoda Mayor and branch societies of youth organizations and women's societies. Now former Provincial Council member of Gampaha District, SLFP Organiser Rehensiri Waragoda too has joined the group. He has taken leadership of my activities.
I came to this side of Bentara Ganga from the other side. Once again I can go to the other side of Bentara Ganga. I can also go to the Raja Rata side too, passing Kelaniya. I can go to Uva-Sabaragomuwa side too. Wherever I go, those people love me. Therefore, after I complete the part of duties in Kelaniya, I will look for a seat that is a weak seat.
