Several national newspapers have published a number of news reports hoodwinking the readers, commemorating April Fools Day, today ... April 01st.
One of those is that Anarkali Akarsha who faced a downright defeat by being placed the 2nd in the loser's list from Galle District at this time's PC election will be given a member's seat in parliament. This is a news item which was published in the daily Divaina newspaper and the Island newspaper.It appeared like this:

Miss Anarkali Akarsha who contested the PC elections this year representing Matara District on the UNFA ticket has won the right to represent the PC across a bonus seat in parliament.
She was placed 18th in the Preferential votes list having obtained 8842 votes. Discussions are underway about the topic of bestowing bonus member seats in parliament and though it is learnt that such an opportunity would be provided to those who received the biggest number of Preferential votes in the loser's list, or to those who come closest; there is no possibility that it would be given to Anarkali.
In the meantime, another news item published in today's Mawbima newspaper leading the public astray is that popular Bollywood actor Sharukh Khan has landed in Ratmalana because of a technical defect encountered in the plane he was travelling in with a number of actresses ... he had gone on foot all the way from Ratmalana to Mount Lavinia area along the marine drive to a supreme hotel.

THE AEROPLANE IN WHICH SHARUKH KHAN HAS BEEN TRAVELLING IN HAD UNANTICIPATEDLY LANDED IN RATMALANA
The private aeroplane in which popular Sharukh Khan had been travelling in had as a result of a technical defect that had taken place most unexpectedly ...it had made to land at Ratmalana. At that time Sharukh Kahn had been in the company of several other Indian actresses on the same flight,it is learnt.
After the plane was landed at Ratmalana because of this technical fault Sharukh Kahn had gone on foot to a super hotel located in Mount Lavinia area along marine drive.,
At that moment a big oration has been given to Sharukh Khan by spectators who had thronged the road on either side.
Whatever it is, as soon as his fans had come to know that Sharukh Kahn had arrived at that hotel, it is understood that they had thronged to the location in thousands with the intention of catching a glimpse of him and had surrounded the hotel.
In the process, the English newspaper Ceylon Today had published a news report saying that Russian leader Putin was to make a tour in Sri Lanka. What is mentioned in the news item is that Russian leader Putin was to arrive in Sri Lanka today, celebrating his victory against Ukraine and would be here for a period of 1 week. During his sojourn here he would be joining political leaders in this country while he would be present at a Russian concert to beheld in Sri Lanka.

Putin here on holiday?
Close on the heels of UPFA Provincial Council election victory, Russian President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka this afternoon. It is also learnt that Putin is considering a week-long holiday following his victory over Ukraine.He is also expected to call on his Sri Lankan counterpart and several other political leaders. Putin is also tipped to attend the concert by Russian all-girl band,Pussy Riot who will be performing in Colombo during the weekend.
