Corpse suspected as that of father who threw two daughters into river ....
recovered from Nilwala River
Police have been able to find a corpse presumed to be the body of the father who had thrown two small children into the Nilwala River from Mahanama Bridge.
The corpse referred to has been found this afternoon floating in a muddy area in Nilwala River. Though a rumour spread that Chandana Saman Kumara working as a barber in Dikwella area who had thrown the children into Nilwala Ganga from Mahanama Bridge in Matara had jumped into the river at the same time since another rumour began to circulate that he has been seen walking towards Matara town, the police took steps to inquire into it.
Police suspect that after he had so killed the children, he too may have died in the same manner.
However, what the neighbours said about this criminal father was somewhat different. They said that he was a man who loved the children so much and that the act of throwing the children with disgust is quite incredible. What the mother said was that there were disputes between the two of them because of an extra-marital issue.
However, by now it has been identified that the corpse is that of the person suspected. It was reported that this dead body so found was found stuck in the mud.
