Oshadhi's political appearance: still pending

No money for these things. I'm on rent.
Looks like can't contest now- Oshadhi

A lot of talk can be heard these days about the political influx of artistes and various opinions are being expressed about this topic. Tele-actress Oshadhi Hewamaddumage's name too was spoken about an artiste who had received an invitation to contest the provincial council elections from the government Party. However, she was not among the artistes who were present at the place where nominations were handed. At a moment when still the names for whom nominations are given is not is not definitely expressed, Oshadhi says that she is still in a quandary.

On being questioned by Gossip Lanka as to whether popular actress Oshadhi Hewamaddumage would be contesting for the forthcoming election, this is what she had to say:
"I'm still undecided. Of course these days the opinion of
artistes coming into politics as portrayed by the public and the media is not that good. Other than those who have come forward, there are many other competent people in the field of politics. There are many senior people who possess more experience than I. So I think some people are going ahead. This is my opinion. Because when I consider what those who have come forward say, I feel that I am still not fit enough for politics.

But I will certainly come into politics. Before I die I will certainly contest for my vote. That was a desire I had from my childhood. Already I am a member of a number of women's societies. I give support to various from grassroot level. Sometimes not this time, I will come into politics from at least another 5 years. I am one of those artistes who came on the political stage for the first time in the second Presidential elections. I am associated with the Nil Balakaya. The other thing is that money is needed for campaigning. Those who know me say that they'll help me if I'm coming. What we have is a little money both of us earned from the Arts. That is enough for us to live. In short, there isn't even a house to call my own. We still live in a rented house. Whatever it is, I have still not thought whether to come into politics or not. I'll tell that tomorrow (Feb 1).
