The body of Ketayam Chintaka who was the main suspect in the murder of police constable and his wife in Kamburupitiya was laid to rest yesterday (Dec 4) afternoon at about 1 o'clock at the Matara cemetery.

Ketayam Chintaka's body which was lying at Matara hospital mortuary was carried to Matara cemetery under special police guard and at the moment of burial, Chintaka's mother, wife and 2 brothers were present. On this occasion the deceased's wife Chandrika Jayakody, mother Hewatennage Malani and a sister of Ketayam Chintaka and a few relations were present. His body was laid in a coffin and was thus buried.

There were no religious rites or any other traditional customs performed in this connection.
Senior Police Superintendent Mr. Deshabandu Tennakoon and other officers visited Matara general hospital this morning and checked the relevant activities. Later, officers inclusive of Inspector of Police, Matara, Mr. Hemal Fernando arranged the burial programme.

Matara police say that Ketayam Chintaka's body was buried at the expense of his family members.
