Prince Charles arrives in Sri Lanka
Moment of Charles - Camilla setting foot in Sri Lanka
Heir to the British throne Prince Charles, Camilla Parker including a special retinue arrived at Katunayaka airport on a special plane of British Airways at about 4.30 this evening.
To welcome Prince Charles, Hon. Ministers Sarath Amunugama, Nimal Siripala de Silva, and Pavithra Wanniaarachchi had been present at the airport. Thefirst thing that both Charles -Camilla did was to place their signatures in the Visitors' Book.
Today (14) happens to be Prince Charles's birthday and Camilla had told the media that his birthday will initially be celebrated in space. She also said that he would be bestowed a special present brought from China.
Prince Charles who arrived in Sri Lanka will be lodging at the former residence of Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike at Rosmead Place for a period of 3 days.
Both these royal visitors would be attending the CHOGM and would be joining a dinner after which they will be meeting the Heads of governments.
They would be touring several areas in the island during their stay in the island. Among those would be development programmes enhancing diplomatic relationships. The couple would also be attending literary, educational, cultural, mental health, women's security and women's protection. In addition, they would be visiting the Colombo museum and the Colombo British Council.
Camilla is expected to visit the Colombo Ridgeway and the Colombo Public Library.
Prince Charles has already visited Sri Lanka on 2 previous occasions; but this will be Camilla's first tour to Sri Lanka.
