Daughter  kills mother and hides her,  thinking she would tell husband ...about secret affair

An incident where a woman who murdered her own mother for fear that news about her secret lover would go into the ears of her husband who was abroad and had got together with him and then dumped the body into the toilet pit in the house is reported from Katukurunda area in Kottawa. The cruel murder came to light last morning.

Rohini Perera, 65 years of age had been living in this house with her 3 daughters and 1 son and her younger daughter with the 2 children of this daughter. The woman's husband had gone abroad and it is suspected that during his absence the woman concerned had struck up an alliance with another man. They had kept this connection a secret; but her mother had come to know about the clandestine affair and had strongly objected it.

It was in this manner that she and her paramour had got together and set up a plan to do away with the mother, fearing that she would lose everything if the husband who was abroad came to know of her pranks. The manner in which the plan was carried out has still not been found revealed in great detail. The other brother and sisters have been unaware that their younger sister had gone to the police and lodged an entry that their mother was missing and they had not even an inkling of an idea that such a murder had ever been committed. They had been searching for the mother in various ways during that period of time, but to no avail and therefore had dropped the idea of searching for her anymore after that. The daughter who became isolated in the house with her 2 children had then, it is understood had enjoyed herself thoroughly with her paramour and it is revealed that after a few months had even gone to the extent of getting married to her secret lover after which she had eloped with him to Tissamaharama where they had lived together.

When her real husband had finished his service period and returned home in April,  there had been nobody in the house. His wife had taken the children away. He had then tried his best to find as to what had happened, from top to bottom in relation to his deceitful wife. He then came to hear from various sources of the act of infidelity and adultery his wife had committed.

He was able to understand that the body of his wife's mother about whose disappearance  she had notified the police about 2 years ago had been put into a toilet pit in the land belonging to the same house.

The police were informed day-before-yesterday and the police on exhuming the body found that her body had been wrapped with a saree and had been tied with another saree. The body had however decomposed during that period of 2 years. The body was exhumed in the presence of Homagama Magistrate Mr. Y.N.R. Nelumdeniya and it was revealed from the evidence available that that the daughter and her paramour had murdered this woman and thrown her into the toilet pit.

The police came to know that the suspected man and woman are in Tissamaharama area and police operations are underway to take the couple into custody.
