Puswedilla Has spoken about the person who played cricket even after 40
Items of humiliation ... makes eyes red! ...

at Dialog Awards Night

Because of the items presented at the Awards ceremony organised by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and Dialog in combination which ultimately brought humility to its administration and the government a few days ago, creation some sort of sensation. Unofficial reports say that an investigation is to be carried out in this respect. One of the items that was subject to debate was the humiliating song presented by leader of Gypsies and his band which gave a fresh and modified outlook to the song 'Lankave'.

The other was another feature which was prepared in association with the comedy of Puswedilla which was staged sometime back.

During Sunil Perera's humorous presentation of the act, the Cricket administration was indirectly brought into disrepute and he also spoke about those who drew 'ping padi' at the Cricket Board and that they assume power and also work without 'brains'.

Apart from the above, questions were posed in the same context bringing disrepute to the government, asking 'in which country were people shot when asking for drinking water? In which country were judges giving verdicts made to die? In which country was a chief justice not wanted and sent home?'

Continuing further, when Sunil queried 'in which country do artistes 'kade yanne'he pointed at a person dressed as Michael Jackson who happened to come there. He further added a bit of laughter to the audience by saying "it's Jackson no who really goes kade'.

Towards the end of this session which went on for over 20 minutes, Mercy Edirisingha dressed as Pillay with the artiste dressed as Mervyn of And Company were brought to the stage where a love scene was enacted, bringing the audience rollicking with laughter.

Dialog Awards Night Festival which was held with the idea of appreciating the exploits of cricketers and the occasion was expected to provide laughter and enjoyment; but when hurting the feelings of certain cricketers and focussing upon past issues became the point of criticism.

During the Puswedilla item, Lasith Malinga's famous joke of 'haven't you seen me .... go away man, go ...' was subject to humour while Sanath Jayasuriya going to play cricket after the age of 40 also was made fun of. In the same way, 'pas kamin out' the mistakenly uttered words of Sanath was something which was highlighted by way of fun because he had been to India and studied something about dancing, it was demonstrated with physical gestures too. n this context it was mentioned that Cricket Board Presidents did not have a necessity to solicit votes and that they are able to mark their names only on the election form. At this point, mention as made at another stage of the Minister's son who wanted to open a door of an aeroplane sometime ago. Though some criticised the words used during the performance of those items as being wilfully hurled at Cricket Authorities and players who were present on that occasion, most of them forgot the whole performance as a comedy presented to bring laughter to the audience.

Whatever it is, now it has been reported that all this humour has made most of those connected to the field of cricket have their eyes red.

Show Town Entertainments Association had not organised this festival and brought Sunil Perera or the Puswedilla item for this purpose and that it was the requirement of the officers of the Board of Control for Cricket that had brought them there, according to Mr.Marlon Cole, Project Manager of that association. Unofficial reports say that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has already taken steps to hold an inquiry into this matter.
