Son of PC m.p.'s uncle who made the teacher kneel .... loses

There was an uproar about handing over nominations for elections this time right throughout the country to former m.p. Ananda Kumara who was accused of having made a teacher of Nawagaththegama school kneel down and which incident resulted in a big public debate.

While it was understood that if he was given nominations on the popularity he acquired because of the above incident, he would have an outstanding victory and rumours went round to the effect that whatever mistakes he was accused of that preparations were underway to grant him nominations for this election on the benefit of votes that could be anticipated. However he had to go to jail once again because of the allegation that he had publicly reprimanded the teacher concerned. Together with all this, the date for nominations drew close and it may have been because he had become that he was excluded being given the nominations. In the process his younger sister's son who contested at this election managed to get the nominations. He was Nilantha Wimalaweera.

"I am contesting for NW province to represent my uncle. I am prepared to hand over the member of parliament position to my uncle at any moment if requested for," he had said. Even on the poster propaganda boards he had appeared together with his uncle as 'Nilantha on behalf of Ananda ... for public welfare'.

Today the preference votes he received on behalf of his uncle was released .... but his name was not even to be seen in the list of the nine who were chosen. The voters had instead chosen him to be the 15th on the list of candidates of the UPFA for Puttalam. The list is as follows:
