Milk powder - cats and lions

Does the child say Lion when a Cat is shown?
Don't get caught to 'pacha' advertisements ...
which say that milk powder promotes brain development!

The dialogue that spread around the country of Sri Lanka that milk powder contained poison has now disappeared. When the customer who went to buy milk powder was told that it contained poison ... the same milk powder is now attractively displayed for sale. Though some customers changed their brand during the crisis, all types of milk powder are being sold on the rumour that this issue came to a settlement after an exchange of money. But it is the opinion of all authorities that none of these types of milk powder is suitable. Specially in the case of children, giving them these milk products must be carefully thought of. Views expressed by Child Specialist Professor Narada Warnasooriya sometime back is as follows:
"Though milk powder is now used in normal plain tea, it was not the case years ago. All these came 30 - 40 years ago. We drank genuine milk ... we ate things like 'kiri moru'. We are not a nation who were used to drink milk except from our mother's breast. This situation has changed not just for nothing .... it's because of those companies that spend lakhs of money for displaying alluring advertisements on television saying that it develops the brain. This is utter bogus. There is an advertisement which shows that when it's told CAT, the child shows a LION. There's no strength given in that manner by milk powder.

If there is such a strength ... that is available in milk. In markets in Germany and England ... they don't sell milk powder. If one wants to drink milk, there is normal milk. It's Asia and the Middle East that brings from outside and started a milk powder market.

These are sold by displaying bogus information that the brain will develop, it solves ailments of the spine, strengthens joints etc. Our people get duped by all this propaganda. They talk about a disease called Osteoporosis. Actually there was such a disease in the olden days .... grandmothers and grandfathers get hunched when they grew old. Those have gone away with eating habits. There's enough of calcium in the food that we eat. We can get the required amounts from drumsticks leaves, kathurumurunga leaves. We don't need extra milk for that.                                                                                                                  According to new scientific discoveries, it is said that even if the mother undergoes operation and the baby is conceived, the baby should be breast-fed half-an-hour after the child is born .... because a mother's milk is so important. In this way, the baby should definitely be breast-fed for 6 months. It was with the knowledge of earlier times that other things are given from 2 months. Fruits and vitamins ... none of these things are needed. Those are given to babies who are underweight only and that too at birth in the case of special requirements. During this period not even a teaspoon of milk powder should be given to the baby.
If milk powder is to be given to children instead of breast-mil in the initial stages, it decreases the immunity system of the child. It affects future ailments such asthma, allergies, catarrh and several skin diseases. Some give milk powder to infants saying that it makes matters easy. What happens from that is that you spend money and bring diseases upon you!"
