Induwari mega-star arrested with fake currency
A tele-actor who had tried to change 151 faked currency notes of 1000 rupees each has been nabbed by the police yesterday. It was said that the actor who had played minor roles in a number of teledramas is currently playing a role in a teledrama called Induwari too, which became popular in recent times. It has been reported to Gossip Lanka that his name is Indika Thushara and is 42 years old.
He had arranged 1 lakh and 51,000 rupees under 13 series of faked 1000 rupee notes. He was taken into custody by the police when he was in the process of changing these faked notes near a post office down Dehiwala Road, Maharagama.
It was also reported that at the moment he was arrested it was found that he had concealed the fake notes in a shopping bag. It was also said that apart from acting in teledramas he was also involved in singing too and is supposed to be living down Weera Mawatha, Maharagama. He had got this money in Kurunegala and the police say that they had received a tip off that he was getting ready to change the money in Maharagama and they had taken him into custody by ambushing him by the wayside.
On being questioned he had said that he had collected the money from an information received from an inmate of the prison.
Apart from the role he plays in the teledrama Induwari which is now being broadcast over ITN channel. During investigations he had mentioned that he had also been an organiser of the musical show of 'Jothi Rathriya' as well as a singer.
The suspect was to be produced in Nugegoda courts yesterday (21st).
